Riverdale Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a stabbing that occurred late Saturday night.
According to witnesses, the incident took place near the corner of Main Street and Maple Avenue around 11 p.m. A 28-year-old man was found lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds to his chest and back. He was rushed to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Police have released a description of the suspect, who is believed to be a white male in his mid-20s, approximately 6 feet tall, with short brown hair and a tattoo on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
“We are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about the suspect to come forward and speak with us,” said Riverdale Police Chief, Samantha Jackson. “We take incidents like this very seriously and will do everything in our power to bring the suspect to justice.”
Jackson also reminded residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
“We understand that incidents like this can be very concerning for members of the community,” said Jackson. “We want to assure everyone that we are working tirelessly to locate the suspect and ensure the safety of all residents.”
Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and are asking anyone with information to contact the Riverdale Police Department immediately.
