The Jackson City Council has given the green light for a new dining establishment on East County Line Road. During a recent zoning meeting, council members unanimously approved a use permit for Randall McClanahan’s upcoming venture, “The Corner Pocket Restaurant,” which is set to be located at Pear Orchard Village.
McClanahan aims to offer quality food and a welcoming atmosphere for families and friends, providing a unique spot for gatherings. The permit, which requires annual renewal, cannot be transferred should the restaurant change ownership.
Ward One Councilman Ashby Foote strongly supported the proposal, emphasizing the need for more quality businesses in the area. He remarked on the potential positive impact of McClanahan’s restaurant on the Pear Orchard Village shopping center, which has faced difficulties in the past.
Constructed in the 1980s by Maurice Joseph, Pear Orchard Village has struggled since its early days, with reports from 1987 indicating foreclosure after limited tenant interest. Currently, the 73,000-square-foot center is owned by Miami-based LaFitte Investments LLC, which acquired it in 2010 from Dahlem Enterprises, a company also linked to LaFitte.
The opening date for The Corner Pocket Restaurant has not yet been announced.
