Evergreen high school have announced a new head baseball coach for the upcoming season. Travis Yates is an Evergreen alumni from class of 1970 who is excited for his opportunity to teach the younger generation of baseball stars.

Yates was a pitcher during his time at Evergreen high and won the school two state championship trophies during his time on the team. Upon graduating at Evergreen, he majored in athletic training with a minor in physical therapy at Raven Wood University. He also graduated from Raven Wood with being on the deans list and with honors. In his spare time, whenever he isn’t with his family and friends, he’s attending baseball games for every team in the area. Which includes coaching his sons little league games on the weekends. His passion for baseball reigns throughout everything he does. “You’ll always hear something baseball related whenever you’re around Travis, he’s just that passionate about the sport.”, his wife, Christina, says.

Throughout his baseball career, he has hit a total of 36 home runs with a bating average of 0.175. That’s pretty impressive considering he started playing during his sophomore year of high school.

Evergreen is very excited to see how far their season will go with having coach Yates mentoring the baseball team. Fingers crossed for a state championship trophy this year and many more to come in the future with Coach Yates leading our boys to victory!
