A drunk driver has caused significant damage after crashing their vehicle into a house in Sunnyvale.
According to local police, the incident occurred late last night when the driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the front of a residential home. The force of the impact caused significant damage to the property, with several walls and windows being destroyed.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in the incident. The homeowner, who was inside the property at the time of the crash, escaped unharmed and was able to alert the authorities.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers discovered that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The individual was subsequently arrested and taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving.
“This is a clear example of the dangers of drunk driving and the damage that it can cause,” said local police chief, Mark Johnson. “We are thankful that no one was hurt in this incident, but it could have been much worse. We urge all drivers to be responsible and never get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
The incident has also highlighted the importance of homeowners having adequate insurance coverage to protect themselves in the event of accidents or damage caused by others.
“I never thought something like this could happen to me, but now I realize how important it is to have insurance coverage that can protect me in case of incidents like this,” said the homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous. “I’m just thankful that no one was hurt and that the driver was arrested before causing more harm.”
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward. The damaged property is currently being assessed, and it is unclear when repairs will be completed.
