It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Smith, a former nurse who dedicated her life to caring for others. Mary passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and selflessness.

Mary was born on November 3, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up during the Great Depression and learned the value of hard work and perseverance at a young age. After completing her education, Mary pursued a career in nursing, where she quickly established herself as a skilled and caring professional.

Mary spent the majority of her career working in hospitals and clinics, where she was known for her gentle touch, her calming presence, and her unwavering dedication to her patients. She worked long hours, often going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that her patients received the best possible care.

After retiring from nursing, Mary remained active in her community, volunteering at local charities and organizations. She was a beloved member of her church and was known for her kindness and generosity.

Mary lived a long and fulfilling life, surrounded by family and friends who loved and admired her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held on May 5, 2023, at the church where she worshiped for so many years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity that supports the education and training of nurses, a cause that was close to Mary's heart.
